About Me…

th-3

Welcome to my world…

The original purpose of my blog was to journal and share my experiences working through the book ‘The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People’ by Stephen Covey.  This purpose still holds true but there is much more I want to talk about…

Being a Mother…

I am the Mother to 5 year old DLP (Daddy’s LIttle Princess) and 4 year old MLS (Mummy’ s Little Soldier).  I love being a Mum and it is the most rewarding thing I have ever done (also the hardest).  It is very true that you never quite realise how difficult it is before you’ve actually done it and that you appreciate your own parents more once you have.

Being a Fiance…

Daddy and I have been together for 6 years (known him for 14).  We have been together through some very difficult times and managed to pull through.  Daddy is an alcohol dependant ( the “it’s never quite out of his system” kind).  He has the occasional binge,  but I struggle with the word alcoholic as he’s able to manage it in many ways.  He also doesn’t believe he has a problem which is the biggest obstacle.

Being the best person I can be…

I feel like I have multiple personalities sometimes and struggle to live by my values as most of us do.  I want to have strength of character and I want to share random acts of kindness and make the world a better place to be.  I work with adults with profound multiple learning disabilities and see first hand how small gestures can make a world of difference.

Join me on my journey…

    1. Thanks John. I’m glad you’re enjoying my blog. You’re so right in saying there is a lot of support on here. It’s very encouraging. X

  1. Wow, first I wanted to say thanks for following me. I’m so glad you did because now I know about you, i can follow you right back 🙂 (I mean that nicely, not in a stalkerish way!) Secondly I want to say that….I admire your honesty in this blog, and we share many similar issues – like having a boy and a girl who are two completely different personalities (wish I had been able to manage that better as they grew older), and having a partner who…..has issues. Also working in the caring field of work. I’m fairly guarded in what I share online, to be frank, but if you need to chat or vent, lemme know 😀

    1. Thanks. We do sound very similar. I was unsure in the beginning how open to be. I still have not ‘declared’ everything but I feel I may do as things occur! I have found blogging about it has seriously helped me and has stopped me making rash decisions. People on here have been very supportive and very helpful. I guess you get an unbiased point of view. I am also here if you need to chat.
      Lovely to ‘meet’ you. X

      1. Thank you 🙂 I think my anxiety comes from being guarded in real life, because things that have been said, or actions that have been taken, have a habit of coming back to bite me on the backside, haha! I am not new to blogging as such, but new to…..being me, online. Maybe more will come through in time. 🙂 x

  2. Hello! Life can be a bit hard at times and the book you are reading is a good one. I have been married for 40 years and there is always something that comes up. You seem to have a great attitude and that will be good for both of you. Years ago I had what you say your future husband has mixed in with a few others bad habits and it was the love of my wife that kept it together until I could see the light. You seem like that person, keeping it real. My whole life changed after my setback and my love for my wife is stronger now than when I first met her. I wish you a positive journey and look forward to following you. Life is good my friend. Enjoy!! Jim

  3. Hello Patchwork, your blog name got my attention so I just had to have a look around and I must say I’m impressed and inspired. I’ve just started a phase of my blog experience where I search for and follow 10 influential and inspiring new blogs each day and I think I’m off to a great start with you!
